After care package - This will be given to you on your first install. This package contains a few things you will need to look after your extensions. The price of this is included in your quote and is a non negotiable.
Make sure you are only using the recommended products on your extensions. Unfortunately if
you use anything else, we can not take responsibility for anything that can occur. Want to try something new though? Drop us a message and we can let you know if we give it a thumbs up or down.
Lay off the heat! You're not meant to cook your hair, so 180°c is good enough. You MUST use a heat defence spray before heat styling your stennies
Swimming or exercising? Keep that hair out of the chlorine or sea water. A loose braid to help keep them out the way is best. Shampoo and condition your hair after swimming if any chlorine touches your extensions.
Brushing - Be gentle with your extensions, avoid tugging on them while brushing. ALWAYS start at the ends of your hair with your provided hair brush. Support the top of the weft with you other hand and work your way up the hair from tip to root removing any tangles. Separate the wefts and make sure to brush in between them to avoid matting and tangles.
Brush your extensions throughout the day to keep them looking their best.
NEVER sleep with wet extensions (or your actual hair). All extensions must be dry and loosely braided or tied up before closing your little blinkers for the night. Want to bump it up a notch? invest in a silk bonnet to wear throughout the night.
Extensions lack moisture. Adding a weekly moisture mask onto the end of your shampooing schedule is a must for the health of the hair. Avoid applying this where the top of the weft sits. Pony tail down is a good rule of thumb. We will recommend one for you which you can purchase at The Watt
Spritz your leave in conditioner that came in your aftercare package onto the extensions before using a wet brush to detangle the hair.
Use a CLEAR oil on the hair between washes to help hydrate. Matrix Food for Soft is a good one.
Have your maintenance appointment booked for 4-6 weeks.
Your extension colour can fade like regular hair colour, and the ends can become split. This can be assessed on your maintenance appointment and if needed an alternative appointment can be arranged to address these issues.
You either have, or you're about to invest in some new strands to be added to yours.
